TEMPLE B’RITH SHOLOM is the central address for Reform Judaism in Springfield, Illinois. We are 157 years young, but our message is an ancient one: “My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” Indeed, it is engraved in stone above the columns of our historic Temple.

Though Springfield itself is small (pop. 110,000) and our local Jewish community numbers fewer than 1000 souls, B’rith Sholom has sought to build a very big tent. Our membership hails from just around the corner to such far-flung places as Israel, Colombia, Tunisia, South Africa, the UK and, of course, New York, Chicago and LA. We are young and old; families with kids and empty nesters; single, partnered, married, and inter-married. And our building is completely handicapped accessible.

We’d love to invite you into our big tent because, wherever you fit in, you will be warmly welcomed and embraced. We are truly A JEWISH PLACE FOR ALL SEASONS for JEWS FROM ALL PLACES.

We are a congregation that supports a wide range of programs and activities for members of all ages.

We want to build a community based on inclusiveness, where everyone is welcome, regardless of age, marital status, sexual orientation, a Jew by birth or by choice.
